Josh Guenter will be the new MLA in the provincial riding of Borderland.

The Tory beat out four other candidates, including Independent candidate Cliff Graydon, to win the election in the newly formed constituency.

"I feel incredibly honoured, humbled and deeply grateful to the voters in Borderland and I'm eager to get to work on their behalf," said Guenter.

The young politician was asked what he felt resonated with voters during his campaign.

"Right from the get-go we went to the doors, we went to the people and support was very strong. Our PC message of affordability, lower taxes, better services really resonated and it was an exciting experience throughout."

Guenter admits he's relatively inexperienced when it comes to politics but he has a lot of energy and a strong desire to learn.
