Highway 75 is getting some much-needed attention north of Morris. Northbound traffic is being rerouted onto the southbound lane about 1.5 kilometres north of the community.

Doug Struthers with Manitoba Infrastructure explains they are building new lanes.

"Basically that project will reconstruct the northbound lanes. They are fairly rough and near end of life, so we're going to put down a whole new set of concrete lanes."

The reconstruction of those northbound lanes will continue as far north as PR 205.

Meanwhile, the northbound lanes from St. Jean to Morris are in rough shape as well, but won't be improved until 2020.

Struthers says that project will dovetail with the grading work taking place right now just south of Morris, to the east of Highway 75 where about a kilometre of new highway is being constructed.

"That's the reason we're getting that grading project done this year because it will be included in finishing off the remainder of the northbound lanes from north of St. Jean right up to Morris."

Struthers is reminding motorists to heed the reduced speed limits that have been posted along the constructions zones on Highway 75 for the safety of both the construction workers and the travelling public.

"Drivers should pay particular attention to the two way traffic zones, especially in the section between Morris and PR 205, where motorists will be facing oncoming traffic."
