The Portage-Lisgar Liberal riding association spokesperson says the call by the opposition Conservatives for Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's resignation over the SNC Lavalin affair is political grandstanding.

Ken Werbiski points to the timeline when the alleged events took place.

"When you look at dates when SNC Lavalin's corruption and bribery charges happened, it's been the Conservatives that have been in power," he says, "So to be calling for the resignation of the prime minister before we have all the facts, I think is premature."

Werbiski believes an inquiry has to be held.

"And we need to find out if there was any wrongdoing, before we can call for a resignation," he says, "If you look at any other aspect of life, if you call for something like that before you have all the facts, I think it's irresponsible."
