Local musician Warren Friesen officially released his newest album, From the Wreckage.

He notes the message is one of coming out of tough situations into recovery.

The track 'Summer Rain' speaks of a personal family story. One of the verses explores his parents' journey after a tragic farm accident claimed their child.

"I asked my father if he'd do it all again, and he said, "son, that never really was a question,"" Friesen says.

The imagery of rain in the song also becomes a metaphor for growth and pain.

However, he says it's not meant to be a sad album, "it's an inspirational album... there's joy in that wreckage."

Friesen's daughters Abby and Chloe provided the artwork on the CD

Finding a growing following in the region, Friesen says he is thankful for the community support.

"People coming out to concerts put on by local musicians means the world," he says. "You don't get that thing in every town or in the city."

"The Pembina Valley is the place to be as a musician," he says.

The album is available at a number of local stores or online.

Friesen's generous use of humour throughout the concert kept his audience listening and laughing. Playing a first set with a full band he later broke into an acoustic set that saw a duet with Jayme Giesbrecht
