Local sisters Louise and Elaine Sanders are on a two-woman mission to give people the tools to conquer stress.

"A lot of people think it's just you have the ability to deal with stress or you don't, but it's actually a skill you can develop," Louise says. "And it's an important skill at any age... especially in the pandemic."

After completing her physical therapy degree and working in the field, Louise says she realized there were more factors contributing to their ailments. The realization launched a journey across disciplines including acupuncture, neurolinguistic programming and laser therapy before coming to understand the major role stress plays in people's lives and mental health.

The result was the creation of The Stress Experts.

She explains, instead of therapy or relaxation techniques, they offer science-based training and skills to regulate stress. Sanders notes their down-to-Earth approach has served CEO's, farmers, parents, and children.

"It's really about becoming the best version of yourself," she says.

Some of the skills include discovering which issues you're directly in control of. "It's not so much you ignore someone else's problems, but you can get creative in helping them."

"You becoming worried, stressed and overwhelmed by something you can't control doesn't help anyone, and it doesn't help you."

In the end, Louise says it's not about achieving a constant state of relaxation, but learning how to increase your resilience.

"We actually show you the science and physiology of what's happening inside of you... and we teach you the emotional regulation skills to conquer stress. We show how those skills work with real-time bio-feedback to show you your progress."

With those skills, "You have an edge," Louise says, making you a better employee, a better spouse, and a better friend.

"And now you can help others find their edge," she adds.
