The City of Morden unveiled its Canada 150 Mosaic Mural much to the approval of the public.

"I think people were just curious to see how our mural would come together," said City of Morden Director of Community Services Clare Agnew.

A total of 864 four-inch by four-inch tiles were painted, over a four day period, by people in the community. It was then pieced together to make a mural.

According to Agnew, the mural will be on display in the Access Event Centre lobby in the next couple of days.

"I think everybody was amazed that we could each individually paint a four-inch square tile and end up with the mural we have," said Agnew.

Once they're all complete there will be a total of 150 different Murals across Canada, five of which were made in Manitoba. If all 150 Murals were pieced together it would take up around four football fields.

She noted this project really brought the community together and it was great because everyone who wanted to was able to paint their own tile.

Agnew said the symbolism of this project was moving.

"When you think that all of us are small in the community, but together we make this amazing and welcoming community," said Agnew.
