Every second Wednesday of each month, the City of Morden and Regional Connections invite newcomers to come together for an evening of food and sharing at St. Paul’s United Church. The evenings are helping connect new members to those who have already settled into the community.

Immigration Coordinator for the city, Shelly Voth, says "it's been really good for the people that come out and take part in the event. People that have lived in Morden their whole lives, or for the last 10-15 years, just to see who is coming to Morden."

As many as 50 different families come through these programs, many of which come from European and Eastern countries.

Myra Danielson has been to four or five events, and plans to continue attending.

"I grew up on the other side of the world in India so I’ve always been interested in other countries, other places, and enjoyed hearing about people’s lives there. So that’s why I decided to come help welcome people," she says.

"I think the people that come to our community really do bring a lot of gifts to it," says Danielson.

The evenings are open to everyone and give members of the community a chance to show what the Pembina Valley has to offer.
