The United Way of Winnipeg and other agencies are stepping up their efforts to help refugee claiments crossing the border into Manitoba.

The United Way recently launched a website to help with donations for refugee assistance.

Dr. Jodine Baker says it can be confusing when people are determining which orgnaizations they want to donate to.

She says this streamlining process makes it much easier.

"This way there is one place they can donate and they can trust United Way will work with all those agencies to find out where we can make the biggest difference," she says.

The website can be found here: https://helprefugees.ca/

The agency says at least 169 asylum seekers have cross the border near Emerson.

There is a concern the region could see even more refugees as the weather begins to warm up.
