Administration and council for the R.M. of Morris are taking a new approach when forming the 2020/21 budget.

Reeve Ralph Groening says the plan is to have a preliminary outline ready in time for the December council meeting.

"We want to get ahead, we want to be better prepared...to identify how we can meet the challenges that we face and then we will communicate that to our residents," he explained.

As with previous budgets, Groening adds the public will continue to have input before the numbers are finalized in spring.

"We want to do this as a first step. We take a hard look at what our costs look to be and then communicate that," he said, adding "we work together...for our residents, it's essential for us and we will continue to do that going forward."
