The final tallies are still being counted but it appears the 2016 Endow Manitoba - 24 Hour Giving Challenge was a success for community foundations in the Pembina Valley. For every $5 donated Saturday, the Winnipeg Foundation added $1, up to a maximum of $2,000 in "stretch dollars". Perry Batchelor was still receiving emails from the Winnipeg Foundation, he says as of Noon on Monday ACF raised approximately $18,300.00.

"We received tremendous support from both individual and corporate donations. In particular a $5,000.00 donation from Red River Mutual and a further $6,000.00 in corporate and individual donations from Golden West Broadcasting and their staff," added Batchelor.

Thanks to the enthusiastic response, the Altona Community Foundation will be receiving an additional $2,000.00 from the Winnipeg Foundation.

The Altona Community Foundation thanks all those who gave during the Endow Manitoba 24 hours of giving as well as the Winnipeg Foundation for sponsoring the event.

All donations raised go into our Legacy Fund which in turn goes back to the communities that the Altona Community Foundation serves.

Batchelor also reminds the public that ACF accepts donations year-round either online or in person.

As for the Plum Coulee Foundation, spokesperson Moira Porte said as of late Monday morning about $4,900 had come in through a soup and pie fund raiser and cheques submitted in-person. She was unsure of how much was donated online and is waiting to hear back from the Winnipeg Foundation.
