Central Energy won gold at Softball Manitoba's Provincial U16 Championship this past weekend at Quarry Park in Stonewall.

Energy defeated Westman Magic 9-7 in 11 innings in the semifinals and then beat Smitty's Terminators 4-1 in the gold medal game.

Central Energy went into the playoffs with a 6-1 round robin record.

Central beat Smitty's Terminators 4-2 and Interlake Phillies 9-4 on Thursday. They downed the Manitoba Angels 9-2; lost 6-5 in eight innings to Westman Magic and beat Eastman Wildcats 8-5 on Friday and outscored the Manitoba Thunder 15-8 and the Winnipeg Lightning 8-5 in eight innings on Saturday.

Sunday's win over Smitty's was the first ever Provincial gold medal victory for the Central Energy softball program in the "A" level. 

All four Energy teams brought home medals from the Provincials this season.

The U12 & U14 teams earned silver and the U19 team won bronze.
