Groups supporting Central Station during Saturday's Coldest Night of the Year fundraising walk helped bring in thousands for the non-profit organization.

Executive Director of Central Station, Anita Wiebe says they far exceeded their fundraising goal of $50,000. Over $83,000 has been raised.

"We have an amazing community that has been so supportive of the work that we do here at Central Station and I think they're willing to get behind it because they see the need here. And for all of us, I think it's it touches us in some way, whether it's friends or family or someone we know that needs some of the services that we provide. So I think it's an easy thing for a lot of people to support because they know that it's important work."

Wiebe says the dollars raised will go towards helping the people who walk through their doors at Central Station.

"We have everything from our housing to advocacy, we have our community meal. So, money goes to support all of the programs that we do here at Central Station."
