The City of Winkler has offered a clearer glimpse into the layout of the Harvest Festival grounds with the on-going construction of the Meridian Exhibition Centre.

City Events Coordinator Nolan Dueck has explained they're hoping to use parts of the former Stanley Ag grounds while spreading out the festival in more efficient ways.

"We're going to make sure everything is in that same area, we want to stay by the stage, we want to be where the action happens."

He adds there won't be ongoing construction to disrupt festivities that weekend. However, the construction zone's location does mean the entrance between the pool and arena won't be available.

"We're going to create some pathways to get from that parking lot into our Harvest Fest area, and there will be parking on the Grandeur side of things as well. We'll have lots of signage up; we're going to have lots of volunteers around to make sure everyone knows what's going on and where to go."

City staff note the midway and the food court will remain the same.

However, some changes include the addition of Merchandise Lane, the relocation of the information booth to the center of the grounds, and the transformation of the Stanley Ag barn into the Cultural Events location.

And while access will be blocked through the construction zone for people parking near the arena, a pathway has been created through the campground. Additional parking lots have also been created off Grandeur Ave.

The Harvest Festival takes place August 9-11 in Winkler.
