Reports of vehicles operating on the trails of various Sno-Clubs and causing significant damage have recently come into the Pembina Valley RCMP detachment. The RCMP says it's received numerous reports of such incidents.

The trend has prompted the detachment to remind the public that groomed and maintained snowmobile trails within the Province are for designated snowmobiles with a Snopass only.

In addition, ATVs and Side by Sides, with or without tracks, as well as motor vehicles are not designated to operate on these trails, and doing so could result in Criminal Charges of Mischief for damage and obstruction to the lawful enjoyment of property.

Should the damage result in a collision or injury to a rider, charges of Criminal Negligence may also be applicable as well as potential civil liability.

The fine for operating a Snowmobile on a groomed trail without a Snopass is $486 and is issued under the Provincial Offences Act.
