Planned work to replace isolation valves at the Morris Regional Water Treatment Plant reservoir last week prompted the issuing of a precautionary boil water advisory for multiple municipalities.

Pembina Valley Water Co-op Chief Engineer, Jake Fehr said the work involved divers entering the treated water in the reservoir, and the precautionary advisory was issued just in case there was something on the divers that entered into the treated water, that potentially could cause some contamination.

That did not happen, and the precautionary advisory was lifted on Saturday afternoon after all bacteriological testing results came back meeting all regulatory standards.

"The work went really well, the divers went in and they were out around 1:30 on Thursday afternoon," said Fehr.

Meanwhile, Fehr said the valves that were replaced are a piece of the puzzle that's needed to get the new pipeline between Morris and St. Jean online, as well as the addition of a new pumping well to the Morris system.  "This additional well, it will provide a lot of redundancy and resiliency."
