The following daily overland flooding update was provided by the Municipality of Rhineland Sunday afternoon:

Drainage

- Rhineland Staff observed that water levels in many creeks and ditches were rising quickly. Water levels in provincial drains are high with the drainage system overwhelmed in some areas of the Municipality. Be prepared for overland flooding.

- The Pembina River slightly rose overnight and continues to be at major flood stage at Neche North Dakota. Rhineland crews and Manitoba Infrastructure continue to monitor the situation along the international border

- The Gretna Ring Dike continues to be closed by Manitoba Infrastructure due to high water.

- There are currently pumping operations continuing in the LUD’s Gretna and Rosenfeld

Roads

- Water is going over many roads in Rhineland. Please don’t drive through water that is going over the road

- Municipal roads are very soft, please be cautious when travelling

Sand bags

- There still are a limited number of pre-made sand bags are still available for pickup at the 227 10 Ave NW in Altona (Altona Curling Club parking)

- The self serve sand bag site continues to be available in Plum Coulee at 215 Railway Ave

- The self serve sand bag site continues to be available at 2145 Road 4E (Halbstadt Community Center)

The Virtual Municipal Emergency Operations Center continues to be open at least until Monday May 2nd.
