Last week, November 26th through 28th, Explore Morden-Winkler helped organize a fundraiser for the Morden and Winkler Cheerboards with the help of a number of local businesses. The demand from families in need is expected to be greater this year, so the additional fundraising was much appreciated. The event was a super delicious way to support the organizations, with $1 from select drinks purchased at Winkler Coffee Culture, Other Brother Roasters, Whitecap and Country Cycle, as well as Morden Coffee Culture and Velocity - Epic Board & Apparel going toward their respective community's Cheerboard.

According to Karina Bueckert from Explore Morden-Winkler, in Winkler, the Winkler Coffee Culture, Other Brother Roasters, Whitecap and Country Cycle, combined, were able to donate a total of $854 to the Winkler Christmas Cheerboard.

In Morden, $1 from each hot drink at Morden Coffee Culture and $1 from each Bubble Tea at Velocity was donated. A cheque for $408 from these locations was presented to the Morden Christmas Cheerboard.

"We are VERY grateful to all those that participated in this Lighting Up the Season event," said Bueckert in a note to PembinaValleyOnline. "It is not easy to plan an event through a pandemic, but thanks to everyone's great attitudes and contributions, I would say it was a successful event."
