Civic officials with the Town of Morris are hopeful the worst of the flooding is over.

The Red River has crested at Morris, and there is no water on the Morris River Bridge at this point.

Deputy Mayor Bill Ginter says favourable spring weather this year was the key to keeping Highway 75 open.

Ginter says the weather in March was ideal, and the worst of last weekend's storm moved further west.

Ginter says an earthen ramp across Highway 75 on the south side of the Morris Bridge was constructed on the weekend as a precaution.

He says it's unlikely the water will come up that high, based on this week's weather forecast.
