A four on four hockey tournament fundraiser in Gretna on the weekend was a huge success.

A total of $30,000 was raised to help Everett Hiebert who is legally blind. The money raised will help give the young high school student the gift of sight using very high tech The success of this weekend's fundraiser means that Everett (pictured) and his brother, Braden will both receive a pair of eSight glasses     glasses sold by a company known as eSight.

"I knew the community would come together, but I was just totally amazed at our final number," said Charlene Hiebert, Everett's mother.

Hiebert said the funds raised went beyond their expectations and will allow them them to purchase these very expensive glasses for Everett. In fact, Charlene Hiebert says enough money was raised to possibly purchase a second pair for Everett's brother, Braden, who suffers from the same eye condition.

Charlene said during the planning of the fundraiser they were informed by eSight of a new technology for the glasses. The glasses, which now have even better technology were also reduced in price from $20,000 per pair to $14,000. "So that's how we'll be able to purchase two pairs instead of only one."

eSight Glasses use a camera to capture everything a person is looking at, transmitting it through an internal computer processor and displaying the results with LED screens that counter pre-existing eye conditions.
