Multiple eyewitnesses reported to PembinaValleyOnline a funnel cloud south of the Altona Sunday afternoon around 3:20 p.m. The community's emergency siren was activated as Tornado Warnings were issued for the Municipality of Rhineland including Altona, Plum Coulee and Gretna as well as the R.M. of Montcalm and Municipality of Emerson-Franklin. All Tornado Warnings were ended just before 4 p.m.

"This particular thunderstorm developed very rapidly Sunday afternoon, and was extremely localized to the Warned areas," explained CMOS Accredited Weathercaster Chris Sumner. "There are instances where rapidly developing thunderstorms can produce funnel clouds, and it appears that is what happened in this case. As of 4:45 p.m. Sunday there were no reports of it touching down."

Severe Thunderstorm Watches were in place for most of Southern Manitoba until about 6:15 p.m. Sunday evening when they were all ended by Environment Canada.
