The Winkler Police Service had a presence at one of the city's schools today.

In a brief statement, Chief Ryan Hunt said officers were posted at Emerado Centennial School for the day out of an abundance of caution following what he said was a vague threat brought to their attention last Thursday. The message, found written on school property, specifically mentioned today's date.

In an update sent to PembinaValleyOnline, Chief Hunt reported the day ended without incident.

The investigation into the incident will continue with attempts to determine who is responsible for the graffiti.

Chief Hunt noted, officers have been actively working with staff at Emerado, as well as Garden Valley School Division officials.
