Wednesday morning brought another conversation between Winkler Mayor Henry Siemens and CFAM Radio 950 Morning Show Host Chris Sumner. It was time for another In the Mayor's Chair, and it included a special message for the MJHL champion Winkler Flyers.

"We are so extremely proud of those boys," shared the Mayor. "The hard work, the dedication that they put in, how they've represented our community. They not only won the provincial championship, they then went to the national championship, the Centennial Cup, in Oakville, Ontario. They reached the quarter finals, played terrifically, worked very, very hard. They didn't get the final final result they were hoping for, but had just an amazing season."

The Mayor also had a shout out for the hard working city staff which has the community's parks and sports fields looking fantastic to start the season.

"Our staff have done an absolutely amazing job getting our fields and parks ready for this year," he said. "They look great. We received some timely rain to make that work, but ultimately the start up this year has been absolutely amazing."
