The final stretches of paving are taking place as the PTH 32 project pushes past the 80 percent completion mark.

Morden-Winkler MLA Cameron Friesen explains crews will focus on curbing, turning lanes, and traffic lights early next week before the roadway opens fully October 20.

Crews are expected to be completely off the project site by November 1.

"Very proud to see this project over the 80 percent mark and approaching completion before the snow flies," Friesen says.

He notes the province announced the $10 million project one year ago, "almost a year to the day when the project is completed from the time the community first became aware of the fact we were proceeding with this important infrastructure project for the City of Winkler and the entire region."

The roadway has been twinned with improved drainage and the city is expected to begin installing new sidewalks this fall.
