Salem Home's BBQ fundraiser was back this year, and with that, the McMenno Burger.

The Ladies Auxiliary hosted a BBQ fundraiser banquet at Salem Home on Wednesday evening. The ladies' group represents 6 of Winkler's churches.
Funds raised at the BBQ are towards purchasing new commercial furniture for the residents.

"It's just an amazing experience... Salem is very well supported by Winkler," said Grace Toews, member of the Salem Home Ladies Auxiliary.

The menu featured sausage burgers, hotdogs, baked beans, potato chips, and chocolate chip cookies. As well as the food, there was live entertainment from The Janzen Boys.

Many community members went to the fundraiser to support the resident's and organizations' commercial furniture refresh project not covered by the government.

"It's a way of giving back to the community and the organization itself," said Salem Home volunteer Walter Fehr.

A steady line of people flowed in throughout the evening event, over 500 people came in support.

"It means a lot to me, and because my mom was here for many years... and I still support [Salem Home] it, I'm praying for this place and the people," said Jacob Hildebrand, who attended the BBQ.

According to organizers, the Salem Home Ladies Auxiliary Barbecue and Dessert Auction was a success, and they are excited to see the impact the project funds will have on the residents.

The final amount of money raised is still to be determined.
