Tourism Stakeholders filled the meeting room at Timbers Thursday night to talk about the area's tourism industry

The Morden Tourism Marketing Team held a stakeholders meeting last Thursday. A big topic was a recent trip several members took to Southeastern Alberta on a best practises mission trip led by Travel Manitoba and Pembina Valley Development Corporation. The trip was designed to see first hand how that area has been marketed for tourism and how that knowledge could be used in the Pembina Valley.

Morden Tourism Marketing team member Blue Moffatt says the reason they chose Southeastern Alberta was for the many similarities the area has with the Pembina Valley. She lists the fossil finds, museums, agricultural base and heritage sights as just a few.

Moffatt says in the Fall the Morden Tourism Marketing Team will be holding their own best practises mission trip through the Pembina Valley. She adds people that attend this trip will be very surprised to see how well the Pembina Valley could do as a tourism destination.
