Manitoba's Independent Investigation Unit (IIU) has wrapped up its probe into the circumstances surrounding a fatal collision in Morden this past winter.

The details of this investigation were first announced on March 25, 2021.

Following a detailed review, the IIU's civilian director has determined there is no evidence to support that there was any level of contribution by any police officer as to the cause of the midnight collision on January 22nd, and the resulting deaths and injuries. In addition, the director concluded there is no evidence that would justify the designation of any of police officer as a subject officer, and as a result, there is no need for further investigation.

According to the IIU, investigators met with and interviewed three civilian witnesses, as well as the driver as part of the investigation. Investigators also reviewed:
- MPS radio transmissions and CAD dispatch records
- RCMP Collision Analyst report
- scene photographs
- notes and reports from various witness officers
- pursuit driving report
- video surveillance footage
- the driver?s medical report
- pathology report on the deceased
- MPS pursuit policy.

The driver of the suspect vehicle remains before the court on charges.
