The return of McHappy Day resulted in nearly $10,000 being raised by customers through the Winkler and Morden restaurants.

Money collected on McHappy Day is used to support local families with sick children utilizing Ronald McDonald House charities. (RMHC)

Scott Roberston is owner of the Morden and Winkler McDonald's restaurants.

"Again, it's so great and so humbling to see the support of our community for Ronald McDonald House...Our staff was so pumped because we missed last year, and it was great to see everyone come out and support. We raised just under $9,600, very similar to what we did back in 2019. "

This year, for the first time, a portion of the proceeds from every menu item sold during McHappy Day supported the cause.

Robertson notes they also sold out of the McHappy Day socks, and all of their paper hearts, which were available for purchase leading up to Wednesday.

"And the Winkler Flyers were there, (on McHappy Day) and hats off to them, what a Steller group. They were there, they signed autographs for the kids, it was just a really fun day."

Each year, getting the opportunity to do this for the people that need it, and to hear the impact it's had in peoples' lives, is a great reminder that they're supporting a great cause, added Robertson."

Across Canada, RMHC helps support more than 26,000 families from over 3,400 communities annually.
