It was March 2023 when the R.M. of Morris officially cut the ribbon on its 220-lot residential development in Rosenort. Not even a year later, Council has decided to move ahead with Phase 2 of the Prairie Hearth Development.

"We've been pretty impressed with how quickly the lots have sold in Phase One," said Reeve Scott Siemens. "I believe we are around seventy per cent sold. That's kind of our threshold to start Phase Two."

This next phase will consist of an additional 37 lots. Council will issue a request for proposals shortly.

Meantime, Siemens said the success of Phase 1 sure feels indicative of peoples' interest to live in Rosenort.

"With different people that are coming to our province, we are trying to be prepared to have homes for them. We have a lot of people that work in our area of the R.M. and if we can find a home for them to cut down on their commute, that'd be great."

Overall, Siemens says this success is reassuring.

"It costs a fair amount of dollars to get a development off the ground, as we were told when we were thinking about it. We had some visits with private developers, and they all said, 'okay, you guys try it and maybe come back and talk to us later'. So, we're happy to see and hear that we need to grow it to Phase Two."

Siemens made the comments during Reeve on the Radio with host, Chris Sumner. Catch the full episode below.
