Two people were arrested and taken into custody after attempting to break into a Winkler residence on Main Street early Sunday morning.

According to a news release issued by Winkler Police Service, a female resident called police and reported she was concerned about her safety after refusing to allow two men, whom she knew, into her home. She told police the men were upset, and were attempting to break into her residence through a rear window.

Police arrived on scene and immediately located and arrested the two suspects. Both were heavily intoxicated and found in possession of several edged weapons and a small quantity cocaine.

A 28-year-old male and a 22-year-old male, both of Carman, face several charges including Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose, and Possession of Cocaine. Both were released on Undertakings with several conditions, and a court date of September 14th in Morden.
