A man remains in Winnipeg hospital after a weekend stabbing at Roseau River First Nation.

Manitoba First Nations Police Service (MFNPS) reports the victim attended a house party in the community when an argument broke out around 6 am Sunday morning. Ultimately, the victim left the home and a short time later arrived next door with significant stab wounds to his back.

A local MFNPS officer responded to the incident where, according to the officials, they performed lifesaving measures to the wounds until EMS arrived.

The victim was transported to Health Sciences Centre in serious condition where police say he was brought into surgery immediately. He remains in the intensive care unit in stable condition.

MFNPS continues to investigate.
