The owners of Prairie Oak Campground in Emerson say it's safe to go back into the water.

Swimmers itch was discovered at the beach area just before the Canada Day long weekend. It was the first such case discovered at the beach.

Kyle Wiebe says they treated the water at that time and the issue is now under control.

“Within a couple of days, it worked before the long weekend,” he explained. “We've been treating since, and there's been one case since.”

The campground's Facebook page indicates that a case of swimmer's itch was found on July 22.

Wiebe says they've treated the water since then, adding the majority of swimmers have been symptom-free.

Swimmer's itch warning signs will remain in place at the beach, and management is recommending that the public enjoy the sand areas of the beach while in the water and avoid the muddy fringe areas.
