The Municipality of Rhineland is getting some provincial funding to pay for a pair of sewer lift station upgrades in Plum Coulee.

The Manitoba Water Services Board (MWSB) has approved a 50/50 cost-sharing grant for the River Avenue and Arena Road facilities which were listed on Council's long-term planning submission to the MWSB.

"This is incredible for Rhineland. It takes those big items off our agenda and puts them into a very short timeframe to get developed," said Reeve, Don Wiebe.

The terms of the deal include completing the two projects by March 31, 2022. As a result, officials are set to begin developing the engineering details and tender documents.

According to Wiebe, the two upgraded lift stations will accommodate growth in Plum Coulee East, and allow the 37-lot development planned for the south side of town to move forward unimpeded.
