In collaboration with Garden Valley School Division, city officials say they've decided to close the public playgrounds to help reduce the spread of COVID-19. "We appreciate your cooperation and patience at this time."

Officials apologize for the inconvenience but encourage residents to use nearby greenspaces.

Playgrounds within the Border Land School Division have also been closed.

The division notes these high-touch areas make it difficult to enforce public health's social distancing requirement.

Additionally, the Municipality of Rhineland has closed the playground located at the Plum Coulee Park indefinitely.

The Town of Altona is also asking the public to stay off of all playgrounds and play structures in community parks. People are encouraged to instead to enjoy the open spaces within those parks as well as the walking trails.
