Winkler Fire Department Chief Richard Paetzold is noting the quick actions of the owner in a fire Friday night on Galaxie Bay. The call came in around 9:40 p.m.

"The fire originated in a workshop within the garage," explained Paetzold. "Quick actions by the owner with an extinguisher knocked down the fire before crews arrived."

While on scene, firefighters ensured the fire was out, and conducted overhaul operations to ensure it had not extended beyond the area of origin in the workshop.

They were people at home at the time of the fire, but all got out safely. There were no injuries in the incident.

"Fire damage was contained to the workshop," noted Paetzold. "Smoke damage was contained mainly in the workshop, and some smoke extension to the rest of the garage."

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
