Manitoba RCMP has released details surrounding the incident that closed a portion of Highway 3 earlier this morning.

Investigation has determined that a semi-trailer travelling south on Highway 3 lost control on the ice-covered roadway and hit the east ditch, about 2 kms north of Highway 14 in the RM of Stanley, at around 9:30 a.m.

Police say the driver, a 47-year-old man from Winnipeg, exited his vehicle and was standing on the passenger side when a deck truck travelling on the highway also lost control and hit the ditch, striking him. The man was brought to hospital where he was pronounced deceased. The driver of the second truck, a 39-year-old man, was not injured.

Pembina Valley RCMP, along with a Forensic Collision Reconstructionist, continue to investigate.
