The Altona Community Foundation recently handed out a number of cheques to projects positively impacting the Altona, Gretna, Rosenfeld and Rhineland Municipality region.

Most recently monies were given to the following approved projects:

Blue Sky Opportunities - $6,000 - concrete work on new recycling facility in Altona
Altona Curling Club - $1,000 - sound system upgrades
Rhineland C.A.R.E. - $760 - ongoing training and support for palliative care volunteers

Since inception in 1994, the Altona Community Foundation endowment fund has grown to $1.237 million, with over $729,000 in grants distributed to a variety of local community projects. Grants are awarded twice per year, in the Spring and Fall, to qualifying projects with the grant money coming from the interest earned from the endowment fund.

 

Altona Community Foundation board member Chris Sumner presents a $6,000 cheque to Richard Neufeld of Blue Sky Opportunities. Funds were used for concrete work on their new recycling plant.

 

Bill Penner, President of the Altona Community Foundation presents a $760 cheque to Rhineland C.A.R.E. Funds were used to provide ongoing training and support to palliative care volunteers.
