The Altona Volunteer Fire Department completed its 12th annual Boot Drive Saturday.

The department walked with the parade with their boots collecting money for the Firefighters Burn Fund and A.D.A.M.H.

Secretary Treasurer Darryl Remple says they raised over $3,000.

He adds the fundraiser has grown two to three times larger since it started.

Remple says this is due to the community having a growing understanding of what the department does and the extra dedication involved.

He adds the department membership picks which two charities to raise money for.

Remple notes this is the departments only fund raiser so they like to go the extra mile and fund raise for more than one organization.
