More than half of the 269 spring flood-damaged sites in the R.M. of Stanley have been repaired.

In an update to PembinaValleyOnline, the municipality indicated both public works and contractors have been completing the work. Thirty-six sites still need significant work and are expected to be completed later this Summer or Fall, with eleven requiring engineering, meaning they will be completed at a later date. Damage was wide-ranging this Spring, and included gravel loss from road washovers, culverts collapsing or being washed out, low-level crossing washouts, drain erosion and road edge washouts.

Residents are reminded to be on the lookout for hazards and hazard markers because there are numerous construction crews throughout the community.

Meanwhile, Stanley's Drainage/GIS team is reviewing a number of areas where homes were flooded. The review is in hopes of getting design work in place, and working with licensing authorities, to make some changes in a few areas, so flooding could be avoided in the future.

"We would like to thank our community for working with us during the past few months," stated the release. "This was a very challenging spring, and these repairs take time. We're trying to get this repair work done as quickly as possible while keeping up with our regularly scheduled work."
