It was the Pembina and Red River Valleys turn to receive a dump of snow, after the region missed the worst of Sunday's storm which hit parts of the province hard. A general 7 to 10cms of snow is being reported this morning in the Morden, Carman, Winkler and Altona region, with pockets of higher amounts where more intense snow bands moved through.

"For areas along the international border, flurries started between 10 and 11 a.m. Wednesday morning, and quickly intensified to heavy snowfall before noon," noted CMOS Accredited Weathercaster Chris Sumner. "And the system was fast moving, just as expected, because those same areas saw the snow completely taper off by by 6 to 6:30 p.m. It was a quick shot of snow, and one that will have us doing a little shoveling and snow-blowing today."

"The next couple days will be cooler than average for this time in March, but the forecast models are indicating a return to Spring-like weather after the weekend," said Sumner. "Upper level ridging over the Prairies will allow warmer air to flood into the region, and push temperatures back above freezing, with highs between +3 and 6 possible for much of the week."

Sumner noted the high pressure over the area will also mean a return to quieter weather, with limited chances of snowfall next week.
