Ethan Wilde scored four times and Ryan Orchard chipped in with three assists as Carman defeated Northlands Parkway 8-1. Alex Lemky Josh Hiebert, Griffin Carnelley and Ryan Penner also scored for the Cougars who moved into a tie with the Mountain Mustangs for seventh place in the Zone 4 High School Hockey League. Both teams have one game left. Josiah Thiessen had the lone goal for the last place Nighthawks.


Kyle Van Denyze had two goals and an assist as Pembina Valley edged the Jets 5-4 in Stonewall. Derek Wiebe, Nico Vigier and Riley Goertzen with his 22nd of the season also scored for the Twisters. 


The Manitoba Moose released forward Brayden Burke from his professional tryout. The 26-year-old Edmonton native suited up in 10 games for Manitoba and recorded six points (2G, 4A) along with four penalty minutes and a plus-one rating. The forward has 202 games of AHL experience under his belt with 135 points (44G, 91A) split between Tucson, Milwaukee, Ontario and Manitoba.


The Winnipeg Blue Bombers have agreed to terms with American defensive back Alden Darby, Jr. on a one-year contract extension. He was scheduled to become a free agent on February 14th. Darby, Jr. returns in 2023 for what will be his third stint with the Blue Bombers. The California native is a veteran of 66 regular season games in the CFL, including 43 with the Toronto Argonauts, 10 with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats and 13 and counting with the Blue Bombers. Winnipeg has twice traded for Darby, Jr. in two years, most recently acquiring him from the Tiger-Cats at the trade deadline last October. He was first acquired by the Bombers in a trade with Toronto in July of 2021 and found a place in the Blue Bombers starting defence while being named a West Division All-Star that year.


The Winnipeg Goldeyes announced the signings of infielder/outfielder Jordan Howard, outfielder Javeyan Williams, and infielder Dayson Croes. Howard saw limited action in 2022, splitting the season between the Amarillo Sod Poodles, the Arizona Diamondbacks’ Double-A Texas League affiliate and the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs of the Atlantic League. In 2021 the native of Stockbridge, Georgia hit .268 with eight home runs and 31 runs batted in with Southern Maryland and the Gastonia Honey Hunters – also of the Atlantic League. Williams appeared in 38 games for the American Association’s Gary SouthShore RailCats last season, batting .175 with one home run and seven RBIs. The 25-year-old was selected by the San Francisco Giants in the 22nd round of the 2019 Major League Baseball Amateur Draft out of Southern University and A&M College (Baton Rouge, Louisiana). Croes is a native of Noord, Aruba and will be making his professional debut with the Goldeyes. He played three seasons at Quincy University (Quincy, Illinois) batting .388 with 20 home runs and 120 RBIs in 119 career games. The 23-year-old batted .343 with ten long balls and 62 driven in in 2022.
