The Altona Maroons are finally in the win column. Matthew Winter and Nolan McGuire each had a goal and an assist and Luke Zacharias made 41 saves as Altona (1-7-1) defeated Notre Dame 4-1 in the lone SEMHL game Saturday night. Tyler Penner and Conner Winter into an empty net also scored for the hometown Maroons. Vincent Grift replied for the Hawks.


The Winkler Flyers are heading into the Christmas break on a winning note. Lucas Ens had two goals and an assist as Winkler downed the OCN Blizzard 4-1. Trent Penner and Mike Svenson also scored for the Flyers (17-11-1-1) who received a 26-save performance from Dylan Meilun. Winkler’s first game of 2022 is Friday, January 7th against the Kings in Dauphin.


Curtis Rebeck scored his second goal of the game 10 seconds into overtime to lift Pembina Valley past the St. Vital Victorias 7-6. T.J. Matuszewski also had a pair of goals for the Twisters.


The Pembina Valley Hawks were outshot 53-28 and lost 6-1 to the Eastman Selects. Keston Worley had the lone goal for the Hawks who had two wins and five losses in December. Pembina Valley will head into the break in ninth place in the Manitoba U18 AAA Hockey League with a 10-15-2 record.


Pembina Valley gave up three second period goals and dropped a 5-2 decision to the Yellowhead Chiefs. Mackie Couling and Gracie Carels did the goal scoring for the Hawks. Pembina Valley goaltenders Kaylee Franz and Tria Enns combined to make 32 saves.


Riley Ginnell scored twice and Ethan Kruger made 28 saves as the Brandon Wheat Kings defeated the Ice 4-2 in Winnipeg. Owen Harris and Landon Roberts also scored for the Wheat Kings who wrapped up the 2021 portion of their WHL schedule in second place in the East Division with a 15-13-1-1 record. Benjamin Zloty and Connor McLennan replied for the Ice who lead the East with a 25-1-1 record.
