It's election day today in Canada, but thousands of Portagers already cast their ballots when advance polling stations were opened October 11th through Monday, 14th, the weekend of the unprecedented storm that hit our city.

Elections Canada Spokesperson Andrea Marantz shares the numbers.

"In Portage-Lisgar there were 5,821 votes recorded during the four days of advance polls," says Marantz.

She notes this was up from 2015 when 5,293 people voted in Portage-Lisgar on advance polling days, and there wasn't even a storm.

"You know, I think, given the storm, and everything else, those numbers are looking pretty good," Marantz continues. "There were increased voting hours at the advance polls this year as well."
