The Winnipeg Jets scored five unanswered goals and defeated the Chicago Blackhawks 5-2 Sunday night at Bell MTS Place.

The Blackhawks jumped out to a 2-0 lead thanks to first period goals by Dominik Kubalik and Brandon Saad.

It was all Jets the rest of the way.

Kyle Connor scored twice including a shorthanded marker 3:44 into the second period.

Blake Wheeler, Andrew Copp and Patrick Laine also scored for the homeside.

For Connor it was his 27th and 28th goals of the season. He also had an assist on Laine's goal at 18:37 of the third period.

Winnipeg goaltender Connor Helleybuck made 24 saves while Chicago's Corey Crawford faced 36 shots.

Blackhawks captain and Winnipeg product Jonathan Toews recorded his 800th NHL point when he drew an assist on Kubalik's goal 15 seconds into the first period.

The Jets (29-23-5) have a pair of wins to start their six-game homestand which continues Tuesday night against the New York Rangers.
