The Winkler Flyers picked up three out of a possible four points this past weekend after a win and a shootout loss with the Portage Terriers.

The Flyers extended their winning streak over the Terriers to three games on Friday at the Centennial Arena and then suffered their first loss of the season Saturday at Stride Place.

Trent Penner scored the tying goal at 8:52 of the third period and Nicholas McKee potted the go-ahead goal with 5:32 left in regulation as the Flyers edged the Terriers 4-3 on Friday.

Daniel Isaak and Jayden McCarthy also scored for the home team while Dylan Meilun made 29 saves.

Austin Peters got the shootout winner Saturday night as the Terriers slipped past Winkler 3-2.

Jayden McCarthy and Ryan Monias scored in regulation for the Flyers.

Winkler netminder Brock Moroz made his first start of the season in net and stopped 26 shots in regulation and overtime.

The Terriers outscored the Flyers 3-2 in the shootout.

Winkler will play four in a row against the Steinbach Pistons beginning Friday at the T.G. Smith Centre.

The Pistons opened the season with four wins over the Selkirk Steelers.
