There were minor injuries in a plane crash Saturday afternoon near Pilot Mound.

Pembina Valley RCMP received the call around 1:40 p.m., indicating a small passenger plane had crashed near the community.

Officers were advised the pilot reported an engine failure while in route to Rock Lake, and was attempting to land the aircraft.

Upon arrival, officers located the damaged aircraft in a depression near Road 64 West, just north of Provincial Road 253, with the 69-year-old female pilot, from the R.M. of Springfield, being examined by EMS.

The pilot, and her 38-year-old female passenger from Winnipeg, were transported to hospital with minor injuries.

RCMP continue to investigate.
