Borderland MLA, Josh Guenter, has been given some new responsibilities within Manitoba's PC government.

Premier Brian Pallister recently appointed the rookie MLA to serve as Legislative Assistant to the Minister of Health and Seniors Care, Heather Stefanson. This is a role Guenter says is all about supporting and assisting the Minister in executing her responsibilities.

"Seniors care and personal care homes are an area of significant focus and importance for our government," said Guenter.

As well, the southern Manitoba MLA has been appointed to the provincial Treasury Board.

"It's really about protecting the jobs and incomes of Manitobans, supporting the business community and reaching out to stakeholders and laying the groundwork for an economic recovery once we close the chapter on this era that we're in right," added Guenter, referring to the economic fallout brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic.

"It's never lost on me what a special honour it is to represent this beautiful area and the exceptional people that live here," said Guenter. "Secondly, I want to thank the Premier as well for the confidence and the trust he has placed in me. I think once again he has assembled a capable and battle-ready team to tackle the challenges before us " he added. "Ultimately, I think it boils down to public service and I'm just happy to be able to play a small part."
