A Morden woman is facing a pair of impaired-related charges after police in the city caught her driving drunk.

Shortly after midnight Tuesday, May 5, officers were dispatched to a report of an erratic driver on Stephen Street. Upon speaking to the 24 year old driver, police noted the smell of liquor on her breath. She was arrested and brought to the Morden Police Station for further testing, however police say the woman failed to give sufficient breath samples despite being given several opportunities.

As a result, she was charged with Failure or Refusal to Comply with a Breath Demand, and Operation While Impaired. The woman's license has also also been suspended for 3 months and her car impounded for 60 days.

She will appear in Morden Provincial Court in August.

Meantime, no charges were laid after Morden police were called to a large outdoor house party on Sunday.

Upon arrival, officers discovered 8 people having a hot tub party in the backyard. The group was cautioned on the level of noise.

Then at 3:20 am later that night, police were called to house fire.

Officers, along with members of the Morden Fire Department, attended the scene and noted minor damage to a fence and gazebo on the yard. The homeowners had been able to put out the flames with a garden hose.
