A cyclist came away with minor injuries after being struck by a vehicle early Thursday morning in Altona. The collision occurred during shift change at a local major employer and police continue to investigate.

According to Altona Police Service, this is the third bike/vehicle accident in town this year and fortunately there have only been minor injuries so far. Police remind the motoring public to slow down, obey all the rules of the road and watch for pedestrians and cyclists alike.

Cyclists and pedestrians are also being reminded to wear reflective clothing, that bikes should have front and rear lights, that cyclists must obey the same rules of the road as a motor vehicle and that helmets for cyclists is law for anyone under 18 and a good idea for all riders.
