The world women's china hockey team will be staying in Altona for one week during the World Women's Hockey Championship in Winnipeg this March.

The team will be practicing at the Millennium Exhibition Center.

Altona Minor Hockey President Ken Sawatsky says Hockey Canada decided to lodge teams in rural communities because of the tremendous local support for hockey and the large volunteer base.

He says an exhibition game is scheduled between China and Russia in Altona.

Sawatsky also hopes to have a skills camp for all the girls involved in Altona minor hockey.
