Berry farms have benefited from the increasing interest in locally grown fruit, says Angie Cormier with Prairie Fruit Growers Association.

"The fruit industry has seen an influx in customers over the last couple of years which is fabulous," she said.

Strawberry and saskatoon U-Picks are expected to open for business within one to two weeks, with raspberry and sour cherry farms following.

Though a slow start to the growing season, Cormier says fruit production has got underway nicely. Moving forward, moisture, hot weather, and cool evenings will be beneficial.

Prairie Fruit Growers Association has also updated its website to provide an interactive map of all farms, recipes, and picking tips.
